I just registered for a course with The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine on preventing the Zika Virus. The course includes understanding and controlling the Aedes Mosquito and reviewing the science behind the Zika outbreak, how it is spread, and infection control. My first health sector position was working with children and families affected by an immuno-deficiency virus and I have such a big place in my heart for this field of work. Reviewing the impact that Zika has had on newborns and maternal health, it appears that prevention and support are much needed interventions.
